World Education Laos currently focuses on improving the lives of the poor through education and social and economic development, incorporating gender equality and disability inclusion in all programs. In the context of Laos, World Education also works towards mitigating the effects of unexploded ordnance (UXO). The UXO Education and Awareness Project creates and distributes UXO safety curriculum sets for primary schools, trains teachers, and facilitates UXO safety puppetry troupes throughout Laos. The Medical Capacity Development Project trains doctors, nurses, and village health volunteers in emergency and trauma care and first aid. The Integrated Victim Assistance Project provides assessments and services (i.e. medical treatment, counseling, livelihood or financial literacy trainings, etc.) for those affected by UXO. The Resilient Livelihoods for the Poor Project provides productive assets and trainings in some of the poorest villages in Laos. The TEAM Project provides sub-grants to organizations in Laos that are working to strengthen the disability sector.
